Born and raised in New London, Mr. Vamvakides is former Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School student and a proud 2001 graduate of New London High School. He started his career at LEARN as New London High School’s alternative program teacher. He was later hired as a Social Studies teacher at New London High School where he taught various classes including AP US History, World History, Government, and US Studies through Film. While at New London High School, Mr. Vamvakides coached a number of sports as the head coach of boys’ soccer, swimming, and tennis and was an assistant of baseball and softball. Mr. Vamvakides eventually was hired as New London High School’s Athletic Director where he served in that role for three years. He left New London Public Schools to gain valuable experience as the Assistant Principal at Griswold Middle School for two years. Mr. Vamvakides came back home and was hired as the BDJMMMSC Assistant Principal at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Now, Mr. Vamvakides is honored to be serving the students, families, staff and community as the Principal of BDJMMSC. He has dedicated his life to bettering the lives of his students and his community.
